Spiritual Camouflage
If there were a true and singular God what would keep us from knowing Him as such?
When you compare world religions you will find there are so many concepts that they hold in common. At least superficially. If we search with a deeper probe we find that within those similarities they are really deeply contrasted and diametrically opposed in their essential doctrines. If Islam says there is only one god and Hinduism says that there are numerous gods even if they both profess “love each other” they can never be reconciled in their essential doctrine. In this case we see again that either one is right and the other is wrong or they both are wrong. So if there is the possibility of a doctrine being incorrect how do we justify so many people following that doctrine? How could so many people be mislead? In this quest it boils down to spiritual camouflage.
Camouflage is defined in part as "any disguise; false pretense." If there is only one truth and you have to follow it to succeed all I have to do, as your opposition, is to get you on a distorted path and I have achieved my goal. In this case, my job would be to convince you that all world religions teach the same basic principals so they all do the same thing. How do I best accomplish this act of misleading you?
With camouflage.
To be successful in deceiving you I need to find a way to blend in; I need to fit into your landscape so that you don't even notice my existence or my intent.
